Investigations and Support Bureau
Within the Enforcement Division is the Investigative Services Bureau. This is comprised of the Detective Unit, the Crimes Scene Investigations Unit (C.S.I.) and the Warrants / Civil Process Service Unit
The Detective Unit consists of one sergeant and eight detectives who are assigned the task of follow-up or continued investigation of Weber County Sheriff's Office cases as initially reported to the Patrol Section deputies.
Also included in this bureau are detectives assigned to special task forces or specialty investigations. One sergeant and one detective are assigned to the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force (WMNSF), a multi-agency unit that investigates narcotics violations throughout all of Weber and Morgan counties.
Two detectives are also assigned to the Homicide Task Force as a collateral assignment.
Specialty investigations involve detectives assigned to specifically investigate sex crimes and fraud crimes.
The Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit, is a specially trained and skilled group of forensic technicians that respond to crime scenes throughout Weber County working on behalf of all Weber County police agencies. They photograph, document, collect evidence, and reconstruct crime scenes as well as analyze forensic and trace evidence, fingerprint classification and identification. They are also qualified to testify as experts in a court of law within their field of expertise.
The Warrants / Civil Process Unit is made up of two detectives and one civilian. As servants of the courts, they pursue and locate people with out standing warrants and serve all court papers issued by Weber County Second District Court.
The Investigations and Support Bureau is currently commanded by Lt. Doug Coleman.
